The micro community of Colona has truly been blessed with this little coffee shop/bakery. Over the years, this location has been a coffee shop, but with little passion, until now. The New Orleans coffee, baked-in-house treats, and a cozy atmosphere make this little jewel a must-visit as you make your way to the mountains. EDIT: Each time I've stopped by, the selection and service has gotten better and better! This is rare on the western slope, as most places start off strong, but loose steam after a few months. There is obviously a good energy driving the place. Keep going strong, Ladybird! Be sure to grab a white chocolate chip cookie with your medium-roast coffee, black. You can thank me later. 8
I'd be very fat if I lived closer to here. Great staff, cozy environment, fair prices. Scones and burritos were excellent.
Listen, I was not a scone girl. In fact, I had gone my entire life thinking scones were just dry cookies pretending to be fancy… until Ladybird showed up and changed my viewpoint entirely. Their blueberry & lemon scone? Absolute danger. I now find it physically impossible to drive past without stopping in. The only real problem is that I live right up the street, so my “willpower” never stood a chance. Their fresh-baked bread? Forget it. I could grab a loaf and happily pick at it all day like some sort of carb-loving woodland creature. And I love me some chai — regular, spicy… oh my. It’s all perfect. The staff is always cheerful, friendly, and somehow remembers how to make your day better even before you’ve had caffeine. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Bring a smile — but honestly, if you forget yours, you’ll leave with one anyway.
Im so glad that this building is open again and that its a coffee shop/bakery/restaurant! They have the most decadent selection of breads and pastries. I had to buy the sourdough! I was surprised by the selection of food and toasts that they had. It’s clearly a local fave because there was no indoor seating. They have a decent sized area to sit outside as well and they’re pet friendly which is a huge plus! The staff was really helpful and friendly. Definitely check them out on your way to the San Juan’s! Wow! If you have not stopped into Ladybird, you’re missing out! Best latte and sweet treats. I haven’t had their lunch items or breakfast burritos.. but I will be back!! The eclectic, cozy environment is great for remote work or they have an outdoor space with all the mountain views!!
This is a wonderful little bakery. Outstanding bread, enormous scones, lovely people. I would deduct 1/4 point because I don’t love this coffee. The grilled cheese sandwiches (temporarily?!?) off the menu are world-beating.
A coworker brought scones today and they were the perfect little sweet treat for this hot day! I tried the blueberry and I believe citrus cranberry and both were fantastic! Will definitely be stopping by on my next trip to Montrose.
Such a cute spot! It’s now my favorite weekend routine. I’ll bike there on back roads, have a cappuccino, a pastry and a snack. The only problem is all the food is so good I’m stuffed by the time I get back on my bike! Their coffee is great, the pastries and bread are killer and hot food is very delicious.
Such a charming coffee shop! The coffee is fantastic, and the scones are absolutely to die for, though be warned, they’re quite large! I ordered the lemon blueberry, and my husband tried the cherry lime; both were delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly, and it’s the perfect spot to grab a coffee before heading into Ouray for the day. Highly recommend!
Absolutely incredible experience. Service was genuinely 10/10, atmosphere was 10/10, and most importantly, the coffee and food were divine. The hospitality honestly felt like going to your grandma’s house — warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. You can tell the staff truly love what they do, and it makes a huge difference. If this place were in a major city, there would absolutely be lines out the door. Seriously, make sure you stop here if you get the chance. The fresh breads were outstanding as well — everything tasted homemade and high quality. They also have a very dog-friendly patio, which made the experience even better. Honestly, it almost makes me angry this place is five hours from where I live. When we come back out camping again, we’ll probably end up here every single day. One of those rare spots that immediately feels special.
